Let's start with why. I have a brand new MacBook and a 2-year-old decided to step on it, and the screen was broken. I took it to the apple store and they charged 600$ for the new screen. I felt it was not worth it and I started using it with an external monitor. One problem I faced was Mac doesn’t allow you to keep the lid closed and also connect it to an external monitor. After doing some research I found there is an app Amphetamine that came to the rescue. This app does a lot more than keep the Mac active while the lid is closed. There are many articles as well that have described what it does.
To add on top I thought I would buy a portable monitor so whenever I am traveling I will be able to work. And there are many options available on amazon. I bought the one worth 119$. So I was able to save 500$ on the screen and also keep the MacBook.
Wishing everyone luck with 2-year-old toddlers, macbook’s are at risk, but we have a cheap solution.
